How do I check if a bankruptcy has been discharged?

I am considering renting to a newlywed couple. They are both working. The husband filed bankruptcy (Chapter 7) back in May last year due to divorce. How do I check if the bankruptcy has been discharged?

If you think you'll have need for it in the future, I suggest getting a Pacer account online. It's actually free if you don't use it very much, because they have a minimum billing requirement. I've had my account for 10 years and use it all the time, but never go over the $8 min. quarterly amount (or whatever it is) so I never get billed.

If it's just this one tenant, you could just have them put you in touch with the attorney or BK trustee to confirm the discharge. The tenants may also have a discharge doc to show you.
