Hi Everyone!
My name is Tiffanie Aiken.I've been lurking on this site for quite awhile now and I just decided to quit being scared and put myself out there. I've been a stay at home mother for the past 3 years. My husband lost his job in 2009. Full time jobs are hard to come by, so we became full time investors. We are interested in/learning all we can about hotels and apts. Currently we are waiting to close on our first property, 30 units in NC and have a 50 unit apt in escrow. This a great site filled with great, current info and hopefully tons of supportive people :D I am looking forward to becoming more active on this site and as an investor.

Hotels or motels are as much a business as a real estate investment. If you're going to buy one of those you better have enough cash to sustain the business and knowledge of running a hotel.

Passive forms of real estate investing - basically rentals in whatever form - don't really generate big mounds of cash flow unless you have quite a bit of cash to invest. Have you considered real estate businesses? Like fix and flipping, becoming licensed agents or property management?

Welcome to BiggerPockets, by the way.
