Who's that guy?

I just finished up reading Conversations with Millionaires by Mike Litman. Super cool book! It's the actual transcripts from his radio show interviews with these people and it's a great book, I highly recommend it. I got the recommendation while watching Mike Litman on Harrison Painters show, GoGladiatorTv

From that book I'll be picking up a few books from the recommendations that were mentioned by the authors in that book.

But I also wanted to read some more financial planning, money management and family expenses management type of books and I can't remember the name of a certain guy. I know he's had a show that I thought was on CNBC, he's an older guy of course, I seem to remember his name being mentioned and his book being mentioned here before. I wish I could give you more description of him but I'm totally drawing a blank, I remember him as the male version of Suze Orman if that makes any sense.

Anyways, if anyone knows who I'm talking about or could spit out a bunch of names, I know as soon as I see his name I'll know it. While you're at it, throw me some book recommendations as well. They don't have to be real estate related, they can be about self improvement, money, management, credit repair/improvement, sale, business etc.....

Have you read Principle Centered Leadership? I've never read it but heard a lot of people talk about it. I heard he takes a bit from 7 habits of highly effective people but could be worth checking out. They even have two at the Tempe library so you can check out the other one cuz thats my next book! haha

I could name a lot of others but most have been mentioned already on this forum and I never really see that one thrown out.

Greed Is Good: The Capitalist Pig Guide to Investing by: Jonathan Hoenig

It is a great read! Also it is broken down for easy reading.

Nick, if you want to read about investing and business in general, I would recommend reading Warren Buffett's annual letters to shareholders. It is available free for download from http://www.berkshirehathaway.com/letters/letters.html.

Start with the 1977 letter and read onwards. Buffett combines wit and wisdom in a very engaging way. Even if you are not interested in stocks or the insurance industry, you can get valuable insights from the way Buffett analyzes industries, specific companies, etc.

I'm not so much interested in 'investing' books per say, but business in general is interesting to me as well as a suggestion that was made to me via pm about human behavior books, I thought that was really cool.

Thanks for all the suggestions guys/gals, keep them coming. You know what would be really cool would be some negotiation books based off of human behavior or emotion. My favorite show and really only 1 of 2 that I even watch on tv is 'Lie to Me' How cool would it be to be able to learn more about the human reactions to your questions like he does with facial expressions and knowing that they are lying(sp?) to your face, that would be really cool!

Any suggestions on books like that would be super cool as well.

I'm just done with the same 'ol guru books out there by the same 'ol authors saying the same 'ol thing, buy low and sell high blah blah blah blah, gimme something to read to be excited about ya know?

Rich Weese turned me onto this one, and I recommend it:

"The Truth About Money" by Ric Edelman

Covers many different aspects of money management and financial planning. Very small section that covers real estate, so not specific to real estate at all.

A book i just finished about human behavior and thought was great. "how to win friends and influence people." Written in the 30's by dale carnagei. Great read, really relevant, some of the stories seem crazy though.

ya, that is one of the 3 books I read on a monthly basis, the other two are of course 'think and grow rich' and another book I love to read religiously is 'the closers' by Ben Gay III, funny name but an amazing book. Those 3 are my regular books I read pretty consistently on a monthly basis.

For anyone else who hasn't read those books, I highly suggest them!

"The 4 Hour Work Week," by Tim Ferriss.

Changed my life...though I'm still pretty much stuck at about 10 hours/week right now... :)

As Steve stated above, I reccommend the Edelman book to everyone. He has a contrarian view to real estate, but it is good to not always look out of starry eyes. It is a financial sylabus that you should MAKE every one of your kids read and it should be a requisite for those in college, imo. Rich in Fl.
