Fish Out of Water - A Poetic Perspective

To those with palms sweaty, knees weak, arms heavy

Wishing they’d had done a deal already

Who dream of lobster in Maui, not mom’s spaghetti.

The rookie real estate investor is a fish out of water.

His notions are part dream, part logic, and mostly myth.

The weekend seminars have convinced him there is a pie in the sky.

The testimonials have told him that, he too can fly.

All for a discounted price or a set fee,

He has been sold on how he too can be set free.

But now, he is as elated as he is jaded.

The rookie real estate investor is a cocktail of emotions,

With much angst and little motion.

To her, the Guru is green deity personified.

Yet the king of the conference is equally worthy to be vilified.

Tested in the terrain of estate, he’s fed full on their very wish.

But can this apex predator really teach a school of guppies how to fish?

Should a killer whale be trusted; Or,

Is the Pitch simply a killer’s wail whaling to those whom it is thrusted.

Those who have lusted for financial freedom and fine things.

Those eager to pick up when the luring line rings.

She must be careful not to lose herself in the moment

Lest she lose her life savings to those she loaned it.

She need not feel alone.

Many who’ve wandered his path have found their way home.

Although a rookies emotions may roam,

One day is but a spec in what it took to build Rome.
