However, things changed quickly after we moved in. When we first moved into the property, we were told to report anything that needed to be fixed. We did exactly that. We reported several issues, including cracked walls, worn-out blinds, and a broken sink dispenser. Instead of addressing these issues, we were told that it was basically up to us whether we wanted to fix them. Then, the following month, we were charged $120. After that, we were charged another $40 because we apparently parked in a spot we weren't supposed to park in. This was particularly frustrating because the parking situation and expectations were not clear to us. Then there was another $50 charge listed as a failed/declined charge fee, even though the amount was ultimately charged anyway. The biggest issue for me isn't just the individual charges—it's the overall experience. You move in expecting a straightforward rental relationship, but instead you end up having to constantly worry about unexpected charges and whether something you report will actually be addressed or later become your responsibility. My advice to anyone considering renting through Service Star Realty is to read everything extremely carefully, document everything when you move in, take pictures and videos of the property, and make sure you understand every potential fee before signing anything. Personally, based on my experience, I would not rent through them again. To put that in context: when we received the keys, that same backyard contained dog waste, rusty nails, and construction debris left over from their "remodel." The property was never in pristine condition to begin with. Maintenance throughout our tenancy was equally poor. A bathroom light fixture left hanging from exposed wires took two weeks to repair and the landlord showed up personally to do the work rather than hiring a licensed professional. Beyond the deposit, the pattern of unprofessionalism was consistent. Our property manager ignored calls, failed to return messages, and when we followed up about lease renewal, claimed she had never received our calls.
