EJF understands that your time and investments are extremely valuable. You want your management company to get things right, the first time, every time. We aren’t new here - tracing our original history back to 1920 - EJF Real Estate Services has been a family-owned, family-operated business focused on residential property management and real estate sales in the Washington DC metropolitan area for well over 25 years. Over the years, our business has been proudly built on personal referrals from satisfied clients, happy tenants and landlords. We are also committed to improving and enriching the community of property management professionals and the career advancement of those on the EJF team. This makes for a happy company! In January, the process for receiving payments for my rental property had changed. I reached out to EJF and spoke with Ivy Jesto who worked with me to ensure that my payment was sent to the proper address in a timely manner. I appreciate her time and her patience to get me through this process. Ivy was very helpful and even followed up to ensure that I had received the appropriate information for next month’s payment.

Maria Bernales was very helpful and considerate. She was very helpful with all my questions and concerns! She answered all my questions and asked if I needed more help. She said I could contact her at anytime with any concerns that may arise. She was great. And she was very happy to assist me. This is why I gave her five (5) stars. If I could I would give her ten (10) stars for her outstanding assistance.

James Rice helped my girlfriend and I with applying and getting our new condo. James is extremely friendly, responsive, and hard working. We had some unexpected bumps come up and James helped us work through them seamlessly and you could tell he was really invested in helping us secure our condo. Any time we had questions about anything he was there to call or text us about them, he honestly was the best part of this process and made the whole thing so painless. Whatever you’re paying James is not enough!

I contacted EJF this morning of February 4, 2026 to explain to them that I have money orders for my rent but due to the weather conditions and my age I cannot make it to the rental office. They emailed me back and let me know they understood and would waive the late fees because of my condition. I appreciate the fast response and curtesy that they are showing me. I believe that was a great gesture for them to make on my part and I give them 5 stars for their attitude and understanding towards me.

Recently I had two occasions to call EJF. The first was last week when the socket for my refrigerator was not working. EJF sent out a very nice and polite young man identified the problem right away and repaired it. He was totally efficiet.
The second time the same engineer arrived today to do the yearly check on my furnace. He was quick and polite and if grades were given, I would give him an A.

Excellent service and communication. I am so glad I chose EJF as my property manangement group. Jocelyn, May, and Sylvester come to mind as providing outstanding service. I would highly recommend EJF rentals to other property owners. I deducted one star for James Rice who is not as mature in communication as his colleagues.

Adding to the litany of one star reviews of EJF as a property management company. They manage my condominium building (Jefferson Condos). I’ve had multiple water damage and water leak issues. They are super quick to avoid responsibility and leave it to individual unit owners to shoulder the burden of larger building issues. Little to no compassion or urgency from anyone to help resolve the problem. I gave a board member a spare key to gain access to my unit while out of town for 2 weeks (at their request) to resolve the leak. No one ever came during that time. I really hope they take steps to increase accountability, putting residents first.

EJF Rentals has managed my D.C. apartment for some 30 years. The service has been outstanding, especially in the last year and a half when the level of service and support I have needed has far exceeded the usual service expected of management company. Every employee throughout these years has been knowledgeable, responsive and extremely courteous in their interactions with me. I cannot recommend this company highly enough nor could any thanks I give be an adequate appreciation for their service to me.
