Terrible people. They love to get over and act as if they’re trying to help I was told to give a 30 day notice before moving which I did, and I was placed in the hospital because of the black mold they painted over in the bathroom!. As I was in the hospital they entered my apartment and and threw things out claiming it was a mess but never attempted to show me the pictures when asked and billed me 3,200 on the 20th of May(way before the 30 days were over) and refuse to try and fix what they messed up.

I rented with Hartmann for just over 2.5 years. The apartment I rented was 2 bed 1.5 bath with a garage and washer and dryer hookups! Less than $800 per month! It was the first place I got after my undergrad and was perfect for what I needed. I never had any major issues. The pump on one of the toilets broke and was fixed in less than 3 days by their maintenance crew. Treat the place good and pay your rent on time like a decent human...you will have a great, reliable, and affordable home/apartment. If I did not take a job outside of the Metro East, I would still be there!

Just felt like they were rushing me through every process to get me into a unit, didn’t feel like they wanted to give me any time to make any decisions without charging me for it. All the while the apartment I was looking at wasn’t cleaned and looked very dirty, but what can you expect from people that make a living taking others income. Also want to charge me a full months rent deposit to hold the apartment for a week, when yes it’s stated on the website if you hunt for it they’ll never tell that to you to your face every time you talk with them it’s just about getting bodies in units.

My entire 2 1/2-year stay under Hartmann Rentals was amazing! When or if I needed anything they were always available to help or fix anything that went wrong within the space I called home. It is not often you find a company that cares about its tenants and makes continuous improvements around the space. They were the best and nicest company I ever lived under. If I move back to the area, they will be my first choice to consider.

Hartmann was the last place I rented from before buying. When leaving, I was pleasantly surprised at how well we were taken care of during and after the 3 plus years we were there. For example, using their mobile application portal, I could easily submit an issue I was having and most of the time someone would be at the house addressing the issue as soon as the following day (sometimes even the same day). Even though rent prices sky-rocketed in the past few years (2021-2024ish), our rent was only raised 25$. I was definitely expecting a much larger increase considering they had just installed a new AC unit/furnace/blower system in the house.
Upon moving out they really went beyond my expectations. Usually OTHER rental companies do not care about all the work you did when cleaning and taking care of the house in general, only looking to see what they can charge you for. This was NOT the case. Not only did I get my FULL DEPOSIT BACK, but go a call from Hartmann thanking me for taking care of the house and for the work put in on the final cleaning. This is a company that if you take care of them they will return the favor, and then some! I was completely blown away to say the least.
Thanks, again!
All in all, if I was ever to rent again, I would only try to go with them.

I stayed one miserable year in one of the units. When you do the initial walk-through, everything seems fine but then the shower head falls off, so many things that seem fine show you otherwise when you use it. The closest is leaking water when it rains, and mold is in the basement and on the fridge. Infested with boxelder bugs. And last but not least, the mouse problem. I had to throw away so much because of how the mouses would poop on and chew up my things. I never stayed here. I had to use the place for storage only because I was way too freaked out by rodents. I gave them two stars instead of one only because maintenance requests were fulfilled promptly. Nothing is worse than a landlord who does the bare minimum to upkeep property. If you would not have your family in a place like this, then dont do it to your tenants!!
Also, when I told the landlord over the phone that I did not want to pick up the dead mice from the traps they had put down, she laughed at me. After they came twice to put down new traps, I started buying my own and having a friend remove them for me. This was because the landlord (the wife, not Doug) made me feel like such an inconvenience for a situation that I did not ask to be in.

This was my first apartment and I would say my year there was great. First off, for the amount of space I had, the apartment was very affordable. If I ever had any issues with my apartment they fixed the problem that same day or the next day. They were always very understanding and you can tell they weren't money hungry. They also made my process leaving very easy. I highly recommend renting with them!

They respond swiftly to any maintenance issue and have the most welcoming staffs.
I stayed in one of their properties for a year and it was bliss. When I moved out my deposit was fully refunded along with half of my last month rent since I used just 15 days. I see some people leaving bad reviews maybe that's Hartmann of old, the rejuvenated Hartmann are friendly, accountable and transparent. As long as you use their property well, do not owe them and make an effort at personally maintaining your apartment, you will have a good experience with them. I strongly recommend them.
