Despite multiple assurances, he missed my tax filing deadline. Communication became extremely difficult—I often had to make repeated calls just to get updates, and promises to follow up rarely happened. I also discovered he had moved to Texas without notifying me, despite serving as my Power of Attorney for tax matters. Things became even more concerning during my IRS examination. He joined one call with noticeably slurred speech, failed to appear for a scheduled meeting with the IRS Appeals Agent, and has still not provided the promised documentation. While I appreciate the work he did in the past, I can no longer recommend his services. Technical knowledge alone isn't enough when deadlines, communication, and reliability are this important.

That said, my experience over the past couple of years was challenging from a responsiveness and timing standpoint. There were frequent and significant delays in communication and deliverables. While I completely understand that tax season can be extremely busy for accountants, many of these delays occurred well outside of peak filing season. There were several occasions where I had to follow up multiple times—sometimes five to ten emails, texts, or calls—before receiving a response, even for relatively minor updates such as status checks or basic questions. Unfortunately, this made it difficult to stay on top of important timelines. I do appreciate the work he’s done for me over the years. However, based on my experience, I would recommend that anyone who values consistent communication or may benefit from a more structured support system consider working with a larger firm or a team-based practice. Basit appears to operate largely as a one-person operation, and while he is clearly skilled in the technical side of accounting, the operational side can be difficult at times. Overall, I wish him the best and appreciate the help he’s provided in the past.

Basit Siddiqi is an absolute professional and a lifesaver for my personal taxes. I came to him with a complex situation involving my short-term rental property and a lot of confusing questions. I reached out on 3/31 and he apologized on 4/2 and promised to have the return finished in 48 hours. Again no response till 4/8 despite 2 follow ups, where he asked for 2 more hours to finish. It is now 4/11 and I have not received any feedback nor direction as to if he plans to finish the return, nor guidance to make make IRA contributions in time. Extremely unprofessional. I would not recommend working with him.
