We started with UDirect (with a real estate investment) in 2016 and had some challenges with money transfer, and Jeff & Kathy stayed with us the whole way and were relentless in getting everything handled. Fast forward a few years and the real estate was sold, and we no longer needed our account, so Kathy helped us close it and transfer our balance out. Fast forward a few years, and it turns out that some paperwork was missing, and the accounts weren't closed after all, and Matt took such good care of us! In a day & age where everything feels automated or pawned off to someone overseas, it's nice to have a real human being in a "local" office who can take care of our needs. When we're ready to self-direct an IRA again, I know who to call!!! :)

So far so good. I researched custodial services for SDIRAs and selected UDirect because the reviews said they're good for real estate investments. Honestly, the fee was a secondary consideration - I'd rather deal with people who are experts since I'm a beginner - but the low setup and annual fees are definitely a bonus. I've been most impressed by the human contact: a.human answers the phone every time. After my account was opened, I was assigned to a Transaction Coordinator for my transactions, and I do occasionally get his voicemail, but Khang is great: he always gets back to me right away whether I reach out via phone or email. I'm also impressed with how smoothly and quickly the setup and transactions have been: it seems like they give you the worst case time estimate: everything happened quicker than they estimated, including their internal compliance review before transferring $ to my Checkbook LLC. I'd highly recommend UDirect.

I have been loaning out Roth IRA funds through promissory notes secured by real estate for almost a decade. In that time, I've gone through 4 custodial trust companies. So I can say with some authority that no one beats uDirect IRA Services when it comes to customer service. They were incredibly responsive, providing quick and comprehensive answers when I was getting to know their system. I appreciate that I can always get a human being on the phone and my emails are answered within hours, not days. All of this is such a welcome contrast to my last custodian who wanted a $200 expedite fee for any request if you expected an answer in less than a week. They hid their phone number and almost never answered either phone messages or emails without a delay of up to a week. Once it took me three weeks to get them to move money out of my account with them. uDirect IRA Services could not be more different! The most recent example of great service by uDirect IRA Services was that a title company let me know on a Tuesday evening that it would be great if my funds were wired so they could close escrow by Friday. I immediately let David, my contact at uDirect IRA, know that I understood he was unlikely to be able to get compliance clearance that quickly but that I would appreciate anything he could do. Well, he must have pulled a lot of strings because the money was wired to the title company Thursday, just about 24 hours after David first became aware of the request. And all of this really great service comes with an uncomplicated, very reasonable pricing structure. I am delighted to give uDirect IRA Services a 5-star recommendation!

I’d been with one of the big-name self-directed IRA companies for years, paying fees so high I’m pretty sure they were using my money to gold-plate their corporate toilets. Every time I called with a question, I got bounced around like a bad check. Then I found UDirect. Switching was smoother than my dad’s transition into cargo shorts season. I uploaded a couple docs, signed with a mouse that looked like I may have had three martinis (it still worked), and boom, account open. No notary, no medallion signature nonsense, no “please hold for the next available representative born during the Nixon administration.” Actual human beings answer the phone, and get this, they know what they’re talking about. I called once at 4:58 p.m. on a Friday expecting voicemail and a slow death. Knowledgeable and cheerful Ryan picked up, solved my issue, and I still made it out in time for happy hour. Legend. Do yourself a favor: dump the overpriced dinosaur you’re with and run (don’t walk) to UDirect. Your wallet and your sanity will thank you. 10/10, would self-direct again.
