Looking for bathtub refinisher

I am looking for a bathtub refinisher to refinish an existing bathtub.  This is my alternative to replaacing the bathtub.  I would like to use the typical refinishing process sometimes known as "reglazing"  The location is north side of Chicago, specifically Wicker Park.

    @Mike Nelson Reglazing is often a great alternative to replacing a bathtub if it is still in good condition. Have you tried doing a Google search and checking the reviews? I would also ask for before and after photos, references and a warranty before hiring a refinisher.

    What is the age of the property/plumbing? If the tub is at end of life, odds are the plumbing is also. A reglaze, IF done properly, might get you 5 - 7 years IF the prep work is done flawlessly. They all "look" nice when redone, but between tenants using abrasive cleaners (or dumping a chemical down the drain to clear a stoppage), you are lucky to get 3 years. It is not uncommon for the low bidders jobs to start peeling within a year or so.

    This all assumes the existing is a cast iron/porcelain coated tub. If it is any kind of fiberglass/plastic, reglazing will not work at all.

    If this is a long term rent and hold, you will save a lot of aggravation, additional expense, and potentially significant (or worsening) structural damage that you can not see. Leaking waste lines, shower risers, and faucets that leak back behind the wall, as well as tub surrounds with loose or missing tiles/grout (or cracked platic surrounds), all can be causing just enough water seepage to destroy subfloor, joists, and more.

    Any work you do now will need to be torn out to properly replace the tub and surround, and/or tub supply/waste plumbing, sooner or later. Cheaper to do it right, once, and not have problems of any kind for the next 25 years. Hardi board, ceramic tile, lightweight Americast tub, or convert to walk in shower only (only if you have another bathroom with tub for families).
