Report Event

Volunteers and staff will be gathered at the State House to testify against the November 2026 rent control ballot question. The legislature could enact it, could propose an alternative question, or could let it go to the fall ballot.

  • The ballot question is unconstitutional - you can't ask the public to vote on compensation for public use of private property.
  • We're supporting the lawsuit to get the question off the ballot!
  • The version of rent control proposed will have disastrous unintended consequences: renovations will stop, town budgets will shrink and renters will lose housing opportunity.
  • Join us:
    • Participate in the meetups before and after.
    • Stand in opposition.
    • Submit written testimony in advance.

We anticipate more requests to testify in-person than time will allow. There will likely be no chance for you to speak. You may request to speak by emailing Elizabeth-DOT-Berman at masenate-DOT-gov. MassLandlords has one seat on a panel. Prepare to stand for a long while, or arrive early for a seat.

Housing provider participation at this hearing is being led by Conor Yunits, chair of the Housing for Massachusetts "no on rent control" campaign committee.

Security: All visitors to the State House must pass a metal detector security screen. Do not bring landlording tools, not even a Leatherman.

Accessing from the T

  • Exit the Park Street T stop from either the red or green line.
  • Walk uphill along Park St toward the building with the golden dome.
  • We never know until day-of which entrances may be blocked for which reasons. Get the room number from the official hearing page and ask security for directions.

The closest public parking is the Boston Common Garage on Charles St. Visitors from the north or west may wish to park at Alewife Station Garage and take the red line in to Park St.
