Hello eveyone!
I was curious as to whether anyone in Maine has any experience with building/constructing/developing steel warehouses, either on their own preexisting property or on property that they have purchased. I understand every locality is different but I am wondering what the timeframe of your experience was, how easy/difficult it was to get the modular/prefab building approved, whether it was classified as a building or something different since it was modular as well as the square footage of the warehouse you constructed.
All experiences are appreciated, whether it is on the buyer side or contractor side etc.
I am looking to purchase a preexisting warehouse around 10,000sqft in Maine but have been learning more about prefabricated/modular alternatives as they might be a more cost effective (although slower) option.

We got quotes from several builders for metal prefab / clearspan type buildings for our farm. Morton buildings makes a solid product and we have had no complaints. Costs are reasonable per sq ft but the total cost will really depend on what type of options you select. Building permit was no different than any other. Building permits are very easy to obtain in our rural community. They will simply tax the square footage as with any other building. The assessed value will be different for warehouse/commercial than for residential. You will have to find out from your town office.
