I have a rental property in Santa Fe but live in Austin TX so I'm looking for local insights and advice on property managers, local contractors, neighborhoods, etc. Would like to make connections with other local or absentee property owners to compare notes.
I live in Santa Fe and work as an agent for one of the local brokerages. My long-term plans are to be more of an investor and less of an agent so I'd be glad to help you out however I can. Feel free to shoot me some questions. There is definitely potential in Santa Fe (particularly with short-term rentals due to Santa Fe's tourist draw). Thanks for the reply. My wife and I have a small independent brokerage in Austin and bought my first investment property in the 70's. Over the last few years we've done several rehabs in Austin and are currently working on a spec house.
I'm also happy to share my experience building a retail real estate business.
Finally, my thoughts on short term rentals are that it's hard to get a decent return unless you manage the property yourself and have a pretty high occupancy rate. I prefer long term unfurnished rentals.

Hi Jim I am local to the Santa Fe area and have an investment rental property in town. I just did a small rehab to the property and rented it back out last week. The demand right now is huge I deleted all my ads and am still getting calls 5 days later of people trying to leave a deposit. I know may reliable people in town as I was born and raised here.
