Need reccos for handyman in Chicago and/or Western Suburbs

Hi Chicagolanders!  I'm looking for recommendations for handymen who work on the North Side of the City of Chicago or in the Western Suburbs.  I'm looking for someone who does good work at reasonable prices, shows up, and finishes the job.  I know what you real estate pro are thinking.... she's looking for a unicorn!  Maybe I am, but if you know a guy or gal who meets this criteria become their favorite customer by telling me about him/her.  I promise that I won't steal your handyman, just need occasional work done.

Thank you!

    @Jill Buhrfiend can you be more specific as to the areas in the western suburbs? I have a decent network of contractors near Oak Park/Forest Park/Berwyn area.

    @John Warren We own three two flats in Lyons (close to your area) as well as a 4-unit building in Lombard.  We live in Elmhurst.  The rest of our properties are on the North Side of Chicago.  I would love some reccos for our Lyons properties.

    Thanks!

    Jill

    @Jill Buhrfiend are you looking for any one trade in particular or just a general 'jack-of-all-trades' maintenance guy?

    @troy

    Jack of all trades guy is what I usually need, but would love to get the names of more trades people. Thanks!

    @John Warren If you know anyone in south suburbs in and around Hazel Crest that would be great too.  We can use an HVAC guy, appliance repair,  and a general handyman.

    @Jill Buhrfiend Another way we locate vendors is taskrabbit.com.  It is a good way to try someone out a couple of times with having the website as your fall back for any liability reasons.

    DO NOT hire anyone from Craigslist. I made that mistake. They did mediocre work and bailed before the work was finished, but after getting all of the pay. He left some of his tools and equipment here, maybe about $200 worth, and some tiles that we bartered. But I had to go behind and redo some of the grout, retouch some painting, tighten some plumbing. I had no way to rate him or go after him, because I'm not even sure he gave me a real name.

    So beware when using Craigslist. TaskRabbit, Angie's List and Home Advisor are your best bets.
