I'm working on a large gut rehab at the moment. It needs a new 5 ton unit downstairs and a new 3 ton unit upstairs, along with a fair amount of replacement and expanded flex ductwork. The plenums and main trunk lines are still in good condition though. I've received some ridiculous bids for this project so far. Was hoping people here could recommend some reasonable HVAC contractors for a job like this?

If you are redoing almost everything, DO EVERYTHING. Dont do a job half *** to save a few dollars. If the rest needs to be done, all of it does.
YOu should have bought the property knowing that all the a/c had to be done.
What do you consider ridiculous?? Did you call some big companies?? I would think about 10k to 12k should be a reasonable price to do all the duct work, condenser, air handler.

Yes 12k is most reasonable. Ridiculous is a bid over 50k for two complete hvac units and all new ductwork, especially when the trunk lines were fairly recent and still in good condition and don't need replacing.
