7y hey Jason, I think that it's a smart move that you want to take your Marketing Online. I'm a Hubspot certified digital marketer who runs his own digital marketing firm and have seen the benefits of SEO and PPC advertising.
A few things to note when looking for a digital marketing firm:
- Do your research, referrals are the best to see whos getting results.
- Here's a quick tip for your wife, make sure her "business" is setup at https://www.google.com/business/ because then she will show up on google maps and increases her chance of being found if someone searches for "Realtors near me" or something like that.
- https://www.fiverr.com/ is perfect for one time jobs like:
- Build your website
- Building a Landing Page
- Optimize one page for SEO
- Run one/two Online adds
- Things like SEO (Search Engine Optimization) and PPC (Pay Per click advertising) take a bit of time to get optimized and to see leads rolling in. The Initial cost can be a bit staggering for new investors who are just getting started, but can be worth it especially if other investors in your market are not competing online.
- It's so hard to get a price out of people, you have to fill out all these crazy forms, wait for a consultation, which I understand since we do something similar. I've structured my prices a bit differently and have a set fee for all of my digital marketing services, since it can be frustrating to potential customers who just want to know "can i afford this right now or not?". My point is don't be afraid to ask ballpark prices in the beginning that way you don't waste your time.

We are open to both options. I'd prefer have a company do this for us unless it's simple enough to run on our own. Your thoughts? Most would probably agree thst doing real estate should be our primary focus.

Well, in 2018 76% of all online traffic was online video. 2019 is projected to 82% of all consumer internet traffic will be video. These aren't my statistics, they're from Cisco. I would say the best option for you is to make some online videos. Nowadays it's easier than ever to create your own content online, with plenty of phone apps to help you distribute that content. I'd recommend at least being involved in the marketing at the beginning. You should focus on real estate rather than waste time on things you don't do well - and you need to make sure the marketing lines up with your real estate business. Everything should be consistent and clear, from the first time a new customer/client comes in touch with you to when they get in touch to discuss a listing, etc.
When I work with clients to develop new sites or rework existing websites, I start by discussing why the business exists, what the business does best, and the ideal customer/client. From there, I look to create a site that clearly and succinctly communicates both what the business offers customers/clients, and what they should do next (i.e. list your home, signup for email list, get a free investment checklist, etc.)
If you aren't involved, there's a good chance your marketing won't match up with your business. There's a ton of competition for real estate and it's crucial to make the most of every chance you get to connect with your audience.

@Jason Staine I don't know much about Lead Propeller so can't comment. I haven't used Investor Carrot personally and know many people are happy with it. Like any tool, it depends a bit on how you want to use the software. There are a lot of features that you likely won't use.
With your current site, make sure you make it clear why someone should contact you, (i.e. "we buy new jersey homes quick for cash." Make sure you update things like the meta title, which currently says "mysite."
Looks like this is built on Wix. Did you set it up yourself - or hire someone to do it?

As with most things, learning to market well online takes time and energy to learn. And if you don't know what you're doing, it is easy to keep sending money down the drain without getting leads.
That's one of the major benefits of subbing it out- save your time and $ "learning" so you can focus on closing deals. I view it the same way as how I'd never consider putting on a new roof myself...
I focus on Facebook advertising (getting even more specialized than just digital marketing), so if you have any specific questions, let me know!

@Jason Staine - I'd be happy to help out by making a few improvements to the site - free of charge. Then I'll give you a few pointers & ideas on next steps. I wouldn't recommend paying for marketing services quite yet, as the site isn't likely to convert visitors to leads.

Digital marketing usually consists of one or more of the following types
1. Search Engine Optimization
2. Search Engine Marketing
3. Web Site Optimization
4. Content Marketing
5. Pay Per Click
6. Video Marketing
7. Social Media Marketing
8. Influencer Marketing
9. Affiliate Marketing
An experienced consultant can help determine a budget, which type or types of marketing to spent it on, your target customer, how much time per day you spent on online marketing, and coordinate a website, blog, forum participation, paid advertising, generic advertising, and measure the success of each campaign.
For those of us who started 15 years ago, and tried each new market type as it unfolded, we have a pretty good idea of where to spend our money and time. But coming in cold has its advantages and disadvantages. You have an opportunity to start with a clean slate and hopefully choose the type of marketing that provides the most effective and efficient use of your money and time.
That being said, there are plenty of program marketers selling complete packages costing $8,000 a month and up, with a 12 month commitment. While it’s possible engaging in one of these programs can shorten the time required to become a “power” agent considerably, it also may be a gigantic waste of money if marketing efforts are engaged without waiting for the all important test results.
One popular career tract being offered in collegiate business programs across the world right now is marketing data analytics - analyzing the results of test marketing campaigns and applying/interpreting these results to form an effective and profitable marketing program.
The other choice is to engage one of the many companies that will set up a generic real estate agency website for you, with the usual stock photos as well as MLS feed, create a blog and tie it to the new website, and start posting information and answering questions are various social media sites.
After getting your feet wet, you can purchase services such as SEO, or a PPC campaign, on a a la charge basis, and track the results using one of many analytical programs available online.
