The Metropolitan, Portland Condominium

The Metropolitan Condos are unique because of the amount of space that is dedicated to common area.  For starters the lobby with concierge is about 40 feet tall. As you walk into the lobby, you get the feeling that you are walking into a grand hotel or resort.

On the Mezzanine level, you have a reading room, a conference room, a party room, a gym, 2 hotel suites and a courtyard.  The finishes in these common areas are of the highest quality and in good taste. I have never come across a condo in Portland with more impressive, spacious and beautiful common areas.

There is boutique quality retail on the main floor, but it is disconnected from the entrance to the Metropolitan, so it makes no difference if it is downstairs or across the street.

The location of the Metropolitan is also fantastic, right in the center of the Pearl District.  At NW Lovejoy and 10th, it is between Jamison Square and Tanner Springs park, right on the street car line, and across the street from Pearl Bakers, who in my opinion, make the best Cuban Sandwich in Portland.

The condos are a bit high compared to some other condos in Portland.  For example, on September 19th 2010, I viewed a 2 Bedroom at the Metropolitan and the asking price was $521/sf.  There was a short sale listing going for $442/sf as well.  Across the street at Park Place condominiums the I saw a two bedroom for $369/sf, and at the south waterfront we saw a condo that was $311/sf.

The condos are very nicely appointed with great kitchens, bathrooms, some have fireplaces, and other have spectacular views.  The unit that I saw yesterday was a corner unit with a view of the park.
