Appraisers..who's interests are they protecting?
To whom it may concern: Again my pocket is getting hit like a pipe on skid row. Appraisers are running scared and directly effecting my bottom line house after house. It's not how you fall down but how you get up and I believe that whole heartedly. One mistake on paper just caused me $3500. Am I on tilt....weeeeeell... not exactly. Here's the story. An appraiser put "average/good" as to the condition of my house on the appraisal and deducted 3500 because it wasn't "good." One of the houses used in the appraisal with "good" condition was lived in with NO NEW anything. My house being completely remodeled with ALL NEW everything was "average/good." Go figure. The moral to this story is this, SHIP HAPPENS (shout out to shar shar) Things don't usually go my way and at this point in my life it's not about whining and beating yourself up...RIGHT? It's about figuring out how you got here, learning from it and HOW TO MOVE FORWARD. And in my case, how to make the deal work even though we were 3500 off. In my case I conceeded 3k and made sure we close on time. Could I have put in a reconsideration of value? Yes, I did. Did it help...NO. Would I fight this some other time if timing were different. You bet your ASS. Pick your battles and don't let your EGO and PRIDE get in the way of your HAPPINESS and CONTENT.
