Prom’s Precautionary Protocol Preserves Persons and Property
Dear REIs,
I received this email from my friend (and editor of our quarterly newsletter),
Tom Reid, Esq.
I am passing it along. If it preserves a single teenager’s life…well…DO IT!
SPECIAL ISSUE NEWSLETTER ANNUAL PROM EDITION
From the CCS/Tom Reid family of enterprises
Hello Janet,
Some of you may have seen this before. It is a bit of a tradition that each year, around prom season, we issue (what else?) a CONTRACT! More specifically, a driving contract. There are many new drivers each year and prom season is often a time for indiscretions of many types (!). Nothing seems more important than working to avoid senseless auto mishaps.
The message is clear, and a fundamental leadership principle. We ALL make bad decisions sometimes. It is never too late, however, to start making better decisions. How we got ourselves INTO a situation is less important than changing direction to get ourselves OUT of a bad situation.

(Send me an email and ask for the CONTRACT)
We know from past experiences that very few of you will actually execute this contract with your loved ones. While we encourage elevating the seriousness of this agreement, perhaps it might serve as a format for discussion with any young adults in your world. A son, daughter, niece, nephew, godchild, neighbor, high school class – wherever you find new drivers. GIVE THEM AN ALTERNATIVE! Often, that is all that is required to prompt a change from bad decision making to good decision making.
May this Driving Agreement serve to preserve the life and safety of your loved ones. Feel free to share it or use it in group discussions or presentations. We are far less interested in protecting any copyright than in just helping people raise awareness of how bad decisions lead to bad outcomes. Change direction. Make better choices.
Then apply this same principle to all aspects of your life. Want to chat about it? Our ears are always open to practice our active listening.
Happy driving,
Tom
