Do You Take Action? Are You The 2% Or 98%?
Talk is cheap and everyone knows this. So why is it the majority of us constantly talk about doing something, but never take the action to actually do it? Is it fear? Lack of motivation? Too much procrastinating? It can be all or a mixture of all of these factors. The statistics don't lie, 2% of the population are action takers while the remaining 98% sit around and pretty much watch.
This applies to people taking courses or reading books that inspire them. Once the enthusiasm wears off after a few days or weeks, the comfort factor comes back into play and you go back to the same life you were living before. Probably the same life you were not happy to begin with. Whether it's your job, finances, family life, lack of freedom etc... I can keep going on as everyone has their own reasons for taking these courses or educating themselves in general. It usually stems from not being happy with where you are in life or wanting to obtain more.

Well what causes these 98% to not take action? The number one reason is usually fear of the unknown. What if I fail? I don't know what I am doing... I need to plan for the perfect time to start this.... and so on. Are these legitimate reasons? I honestly would have to say no! This is BS and just excuses to justify not taking action. There is never going to be a perfect time to take action. Failures are part of the process of learning and growing and striving for success. Who cares if you don't know what you are doing. I say do it anyway and work on the kinks and the process along the way. Actually doing it is the best learning tool you can have and a great way to gain experience. Look at Donald Trump as an example, how many times has he failed and came back even stronger? His drive and desire to succeed and not let anything stop him is why he is where he is today! Going outside your comfort zone is what you need to do to succeed. By purposely putting yourself in situations where you feel uncomfortable is what drives greatness and success in anyone. This is how you grow and before you know it, you will be unstoppable and nothing will phase you. Anything negative that happens will seem like a minor setback and you will continue to forge forward!
So what category to you fall under? The 2% that takes massive action and will not stop until they succeed? Or the 98% that continues to mull around in life without direction or drive? Anyone can succeed and take action, it's up to you and no one else as you control what direction you want to take in life.
Be committed to your success.

I think part of it is believing that you can succeed. There are a lot of negative people out there that will tell you that you can't.

Charles, I know there are a lot of negative people out there but by and large I see very few in my life. I think if someone finds a lot of naysayers around them it's time to look at oneself.

Good for you Rachel and I applaud you for doing so. The fear of taking that next step is what usually holds people back. Breaking through that fear barrier is what can bring you to the next level!

Action is often the missing ingredient in success. There are plenty of people that have solid ideas and know how, but fail to take action.

I think fear has a lot to do with it - it's one of the most powerful emotions. By taking action, it actually helps to get over the unknown. For me personally, I just had to force myself to take action as I really wanted to make a change. By taking action, I gained experience and ultimately it alleviated my fears. Good write-up!

The way I look at it is isn't it a good thing for the 2% population that the other 98% population doesn't take action? It creates more opportunities for the 2%.

For me before I became a person of action it was a fear of failure and a fear to succeed. It wasn't until I gained the confidence in myself and surrounded myself in a positive environment that I became a 2%'er
