Day -1
I am starting this real estate blog because I feel like it will keep me focused, accountable, and hopefully someone will get something out of this. This is titled Day -1 for obvious reasons. I have been sitting in analysis paralysis for over a year and it is time to start doing. I truly want to be a successful real estate investor, but I am terrified of getting out there and having people realize I have no idea what I am doing. This is my answer, to put it out there and risk being the cliche of real estate newbies that quit before they have started.
I am a husband to an amazing wife and have two wonderful boys that are quite the handful. They are the "why" for everything. I love real estate, but the thought of being around and teaching them how to grow a business is something I have long dreamed about. My background is in banking. I do not necessarily think that this is a huge asset. You can truly learn the ins and outs of what I do in a couple hours #humbled right now, I am a full time employee, but with a lot of work, I can change that.
So lets get to the nitty gritty, what am I going to accomplish this week
- 1.) Driving for Dollars - This is the most cost effective way to start my business. I need leads, but, I need to not overwhelm myself with a list of 2000 mailers. My goal is 25 quality leads.
- 2.) Skip trace - Once I have the 25 leads, I will run it through BeenVarified to find address, phone numbers, etc.
- 3.) Make dials - I know 25 leads is not a lot, I am looking at getting a process and then scaling it.
I'm keeping it simple for now and then going all out. If you have any questions or advice, please feel free to comment. I would be grateful for the advice and I am sure others could learn from it as well.
P.S. By now you are realizing I never really stated my concentration. I will be wholesaling in rural and... less rural Michigan. For those in the area, mostly St. Clair County. During this process, building a rental portfolio, and maybe making some money.
