HOW TO FIND THE RIGHT AGENT

Working with the right person in an industry is fundamental, so picking the right agent is no different. In the real estate world, there are many moving pieces before getting to the closing table. Therefore, finding the right agent to work with will avoid many headaches along the way. Here are some signs to look for in an agent:

  1. 1. COMPATABILITY

I am not talking about a love interest, but you should enjoy being around your agent. Keep in mind that once you have a contract, it takes on average 50 days to close a home. Which does not include the time spent looking for a home. Therefore you will spend a lot of time communicating, so having a good relationship will make the process smooth and effective.

Another way you can narrow down your search is if your goals match the realtor niche. Let me explain. Many agents target a specific audience to work with, just like any other specialty. If you are looking to invest, find an agent that works with investors. If your goal is to buy a luxury home, find an agent that works with luxury properties. Take advantage of an area the agent is the most confident.

  1. 2. RESPONSIVENESS & AVAILABILITY

Real estate is a busy industry, and good real estate agents will make themselves available to you and won’t leave you waiting for a response. A client should be a priority, so all their questions and concerns are being answered and handled. Also, find out how the agent prefers to be contacted, as this will increase an agent's responsiveness. Is it by phone, text, or email?

  1. 3. HUSTLE & PRODUCTIVITY

Being a real estate agent requires a great work ethic. It is not an easy job, and in this current market, you want someone that doesn't give up. As I mentioned before, transactions take time and usually have hiccups along the way. So you want an agent that can problem solve all obstacles and deliver results. One indicator that will set the right agent apart from everyone else is, asking strategic questions. This means the agent is thinking two steps ahead of their client and saves them both time. You don't want an agent that is only going through the motion and waiting on you to make a move.

  1. 4. HONESTY & INTEGRETY

Honesty from your agent is important because they are the ones guiding you through the process. The right agent will tell you the truth, even when it doesn't benefit them or their client. Reputation is crucial in an agent's successful career, so they will try to protect that. In addition, it is also ethically imperative for a great agent to put their character, honesty, and integrity ahead of making a buck. So don't be scared to ask tough questions and get their opinion.

There is plenty of rockstar agents out there, so never settle if they don't have the characteristics or qualifications you are looking for. If you have any questions on the tools I use to help meet your goals, don't hesitate to connect with me here on BP. I'd be happy to do anything I can to help you on your journey.

Goodluck & Happy Searching.
