Ways how to househack

If you're looking to get into the real estate game but don't have a ton of money to put down, house hacking is a great option.

There are a few different ways to go about it:

1. Rent to roommates. This is the easiest and simplest of ways. You know the tenants and trust them a little more because you know them more. Be the landlord and have fun while doing it!

2. Start a short term rental. Going through platforms like VRBO or AirBNB have proven to be lucrative and easier to handle than day to day occupancy. You can set up the rules for the tenants and with the platforms that you choose, you can feel comfortable that your home will be taken care of.

3. Live in a Trailer, Garage apartment, or RV and rent out your primary residence. If you are the type of person to do almost anything, then this might be a great way to make money! An operational and pretty good sized trailer can be anywhere from $1500-$4000. I recommend checking with the HOA (if there is one) if it allowed to have a trailer parked on property.

4. Rent out the garage apartment! Make sure you have a basic kitchenette, operative bathroom, and space.

Whatever route you decide to go, equity and expenses should be your top priority. House hacking is a great way for first time home buyers to get their foot in the door of the real estate world. So do your research and figure out what route is best for you!
