What is Feng-Shui? Should you learn more about it?

The Chinese words "feng" and "shui" translate to mean “wind” and “water," respectively. This concept derived from an ancient poem that talks about human life being connected and flowing with the environment around it. The philosophy of feng shui is a practice of arranging the pieces in living spaces in order to create balance with the natural world. The goal is to harness energy forces and establish harmony between an individual and their environment.

Feng shui practitioners believe that the human world is a reflection of the natural world. Balance and harmony in the environment will create balance and harmony in our lives. The philosophy behind feng shui is to create alignment between an individual and their environment so that they can live in harmony with the natural world.

There are three key principles of feng shui: The Bagua Map, The Five Elements, and The Commanding Position.

The Bagua Map is a tool used to map out an area and identify specific areas of life. There are nine areas of life represented on the map: Career, Knowledge, Family, Wealth, Fame, Love, Children, Health, and Helpful People. Each area is associated with a specific color, element, and symbol. For example, the Career area is associated with the color black, the element of water, and the symbol of a dragon.

The Five Elements are wood, fire, earth, metal, and water. Each element is associated with a specific color, season, direction, and symbolism. The elements are in constant interaction with each other and must be in balance in order to create harmony.

The Commanding Position is the placement of furniture and objects in a room so that you have a clear view of the door. This positioning is said to give you a “commanding” view of your space and help you avoid negative energy.
