Am I Wasting My Time?

I’m a relatively new Real Estate investor but I am NOT new to business.  I’ve lived my life with success and failures and continuously pass this experience to everyone I can so they become successful in Real Estate investing as a business.

The message I preach is for everyone; those who want to get their hands dirty as well as those wanting to sit back and watch their money grow while I do all the work.

Today I want to focus on the latter group, the ones that NEED more of my help because they really do not understand money.  I am not claiming to be a money expert, but I’ve come a long way in the last few years building a substantial portfolio using the continuous education I receive ABOUT money.

What you Need To Know About Money

Without losing my focus here, you need to understand money is a TOOL. It is something you USE to get what you want (which could be and in most cases is…more money or "lifestyle").  But most people do not understand this and they use their job & their TIME as the TOOL to get money aka "lifestyle".

In other words, you must make money work for you.  If it isn’t, you are working for money.  I tell someone that and 'it's obvious', but is it, really??

I'm Passionate About 'Wasting Time'

I have such a strong passion to educate people and positively impact their lives about this stuff, others see these hours as wasted time because “nothing really happens – they don’t make changes” or “they still haven’t invested with you”.

True, there are some major time wasters out there and you have to be aware of them.  I have the gift of reading people 90 seconds into a conversation; I can tell whether or not someone is a time waster or genuinely interested in learning.

And that’s the group I’m intrigued with– the ones paralyzed with fear because they are uneducated just like I was.

THOSE are the ones that NEED my help – they are the ones I spend the most time with because I can see the spark, sense the urgency and hear the panic in their voices.

They may not know it, but they are moving to a place of vulnerability and authenticity by attaching themselves to me.  There is no other way I will work with anyone.

I don’t stand for BS, I won’t tolerate the ‘game’ and I certainly will not help someone who doesn’t want to help themselves.

I have found people without the same morals, authenticity and vulnerability repel themselves from me in the last few years so I know those with whom I spend hours on end with are not time wasters.

Does that make sense to you?

The Reason I’m Like This

WHY am I so passionate about getting to these people; to achieve in their lives, personally, professionally and financially?  I now realize it’s because of my five key core values.

In particular, my ‘Celebrity’ core value.

Remove from your mind though the image of ‘celebrity’ as a huge superstar with tons of fame and fortune because it’s not what this core value means to me.  The definition IS to be known and recognizable but it’s how it relates to all my other core values that are important to understand.

Here are my other four:

  • Achievement (sense of accomplishment)
  • Independence (free from influence, guidance or control of others)
  • Authenticity (the quality of being true and genuine)
  • Competence (possessing the skill, knowledge and ability to effectively perform)

These core values combined with the Celebrity value makes up…well, my core.

Two people have been instrumental in my realizations of my passion and core values; Greg Habstritt and Philip McKernan – I strongly encourage you to follow these two men & learn more of their life’s work.

So as you can see, the debate whether or not I am wasting time talking to people is part of who I am; it’s my way of being on the centre stage whether it’s to one or one thousand and I'm helping other people while I'm up there.
