Communication Can Make Things Better

I was reading about this transaction where the seller was not ready to paint the closet door that had a graffiti on it. But according to the FHA standards, this needed a repaint. The seller's agent kept mentioning the sellers are not ready to budge, and the buyers were helpless. They wanted the house so badly and even wanted to pay for the repaint. But nothing worked. Everyone was assuming that the sellers were jerks, until one day the buyers and sellers met and actually learned WHY they could not let the repaint take place.

It was a really touching story of their foster kid drawing that piece of art, becoming a marine and dying in a combat. Sounds pretty reasonable now right?

The problem was solved easily. According to the buyer's broker:

"The buyers left with the door. They spent the weekend with a friend who is an artist/painter. Yesterday they returned with a framed piece of art for the sellers. The artist had taken the door, trimmed it to size, thinned out the wood it was on, and framed it."

Amazing what people face and how they handle it :)

But the point is, in this case there was a misunderstanding between the two parties, and a solution that was easily achievable, was not visible because of this lack of communication. So in times of crisis, all it takes is to come out and speak, people are out there who know stuff that you don't, and might just help you out.
