Take A Look At Home Security Before Purchasing A Bothell Home

One of the things that you should keep in mind before purchasing a Bothell home is the home security features. On top of wanting to find a safe neighborhood to live in, you’ll want to make sure that your house is safe as well. Here are some safety factors to include in your Bothell home security checklist.

1. What are the doors made of?

Look for doors that are made of metal instead of wood. They are more secure and harder for criminals to break into. While you are examining the doors, take a look at the locks. Is there a dead bolt on both the front and back door? If not, you will have to make sure that one is installed yourself.

2. Are the windows secure?

Make sure that all the windows lock properly especially on the ground floor. Some older homes may have windows that don't lock well and it may cost a lot to get them repaired. This is one of the things you should keep in mind when doing your Bothell home security analysis.

3. Is there an alarm system installed? If the current owner has a security system that is already installed, you can find out if the ownership rights to the system can be transferred over to you. This will depend on the company that the owner is currently signed up with. It is always a good idea to have some type of alarm system installed for peace of mind and to help reduce your insurance costs. If the home doesn't have one, check with neighborhoods to find out who is a reputable home security company and give them a call for a home security system quote.

4. Check the garage doors

All of the doors to the garage should be checked for security. Do they also lock well and what are they made of?  Doors can be very expensive to replace so it is important to inspect all the ones that lead to the exterior of the home to make sure that they are secure.

When you're thinking about purchasing a Bothell home, keep security in mind. You want to offer your family a safe environment to move into and this includes not only the neighborhood, but also the home itself.
