Allow me to introduce myself...

Hello, to everyone in the Bigger Pockets community reading this. My name is George Griffeth. I'm an avid student of real estate investing, and have been for the past year. The thought of designing and living a life dependant on my own performance in something I enjoy really appeals to me. I think of myself as a friendly, intelligent person, who enjoys spending time diving head first into learning about different things, especially if they have real social value, as well as a financial return. A full time career in real estate will put me in a position to do what I truly love to do for a career, while allowing me to obtain crucial knowledge of one of the best financial vehicles available.

Now, a little more on my situation. I'm a 19 year old business administration/accounting student attending Marist College in Poughkeepsie, New York, and have definite plans to move to Orlando, Florida within the next 2-3 years, to finish my junior and senior year of school. By the end of this summer, I'll have $15,000 dollars saved for a down payment on my first investment property. I'm most likely going to save longer than the end of the summer so I'll have a bigger down payment to put down. Exactly what I'm going to buy is obviously subject to change as my savings grow and plans change, but as of now I'm planning on investing in a multi-family unit in northern Florida (Daytona Beach as of now) when I move to Orlando.

In the two week period between the fall semester of school and the end of my summer job, I'm going to take a 2 week class to get the required hours for my salesperson license. I'll use the education regardless, but this also gives me the option to practice part time for the fall and spring semesters, then go full time by the summer. By then, my 2 years at Marist will be over, and I'd be able to practice full time through the summer, and into that whole next year, until I move to Orlando that following summer.

Now that you have a tiny view of who I am, I'll share some of my specific interests in real estate, and some future goals I have in mind for myself, and this blog.

Becoming a real estate agent is a career that would perfectly suit my social skills, as well as my general love of real estate. I can see myself putting my all into the job, and expect a great return on my energy. After practicing in New York for a period of a year and a half, I'd transfer my license to Florida when I moved. It's a pretty clear set-back, but I have personal reasons for having to go to Orlando, so I'll embrace it as a possible opprotunity. I travel there multiple times a year, so I know the area well. I'd also save my money for the whole time I'm in New York, allowing me to put a large down payment on my first investment property.

Even farther in the future, I would love to get my brokers license. I would work under a broker for an amount of time after I got it, but hopefully I'd be on my own fairly quickly.

Now, for the purpose of creating this blog.

I've always loved keeping journals. It's a great feeling looking back at your recollection of a day years ago and remembering every minute of it as you re-read what you wrote. This journal isn't just going to be here for others to read. I'll be using it as a personal tool. I think it will really benefit me, being able to look back at my perspective on different things from the past and reflect on it. In this blog, I'll be talking about things I may have recently heard or read and how I felt about them, or just talking about my understanding of certain topics. I can raise questions while writing about topics I'm still not 100% sure on, and it will obviously help me having other people respond to my thoughts.

This may look like a whole page of dreams, but if you knew me personally (which hopefully some of you soon will), you'd know that when I set a target wholeheartily, I accomplish what I set out to do. And this time, I'll be enjoying the process :-)

Well, If you've read this far, I applaud you, as well as urge you to keep reading my next posts! :-)
