Hi Angela, I would absolutely recommend talking to an attorney that is familiar with Property Law in your area. Right of Redemption and other laws can vary widely from state to state and it is important for you to have the right information.

from the paperwork i recieved it looks like about 80,000, which i dont have , but i thought iread somewhere that i could file an emergency chapter 13 , which would give me 3 to 5 years to get caught up. what would be the consequences if i did nothing and the property sells for only 40,000. will i be sued for the balance ?? thanks for the reply!!!

Yes, you can redeem the property at any time prior to the sale. Contact the attorney handling the forclosure and ask for a statement as to the requires monies needed to put you back in compliance with the terms and conditons of your mortgage note.
