Parkland Public Schools Receive High Marks

It's official. public schools receive high marks. Every year, public schools across the state are graded based primarily on the results of the Florida Comprehensive Achievement Test (FCAT). I am proud to say that our very own public schools have again received an "A". This includes all elementary and middle schools in the Parkland School District.

The letter grades for elementary schools are based entirely on their performance on the annual FCAT. Middle schools are graded based on the FCAT and algebra test scores. This year's results for Parkland High School will not be released until the fall, along with the rest of Florida's public high schools. But, we expect great things there as well. All Parkland elementary and middle schools have received an "A" grade since 2008, with the exception of Heron Heights Elementary. Classes there didn't start until the 2010 school year. But they have also earned an "A" since their inception.

Congratulations to all the students, staff and others involved in the public school system. It's thanks to your hard work that public schools received such high marks. Keep up the good work!
