The beginning
Welcome to my blog everyone! This is my first post so I'd figure I would tell you a bit about where I'm coming from and why I want to get into real estate and also write out my goals I want to achieve by the end of the year.
I'm 27 and up until this point in my life have been FLAT BROKE! Living paycheck to paycheck as most Americans do I always figured I just wasn't getting the breaks and that the economy was the major roadblock to my success. That all changed about 8 months ago when I realized my life wasn't going in the direction I wanted it to at all. Let's be honest being broke all the time sucks balls. That's when I decided to dive into the self help industry and consume all I could. I read a plethora of books and listened to an equal amount of audio programs. Anything including Brian Tracy, Tony Robbins, Steve Pavlina, Paul Mckenna and more.
At first I did nothing with it, but then slowly it started to take a hold of my brain and I started to follow what they preached. I failed over and over again to stick with it, but each time I got further along. Then i wrote my goals down for 2012 and that's where things started to change. One goal was make 10k/month. I looked at the goals all the time and my brain started figuring out ways to make them happen. Finally, I stumbled upon the oil industry and had a friend hook me up. Now, I'm making 10k/month! Pretty wild considering I've never made more than 3k/month up to this point. Always wanting to get into real estate, I figured now was the perfect time.
So, here I am ready to learn and consume as much as possible and take action on whatever it is that I learn. It seems focusing on one area is the best way to go and I've really resonated with what Monica Breckenridge is doing because it appears she too is a firm believer in positive thoughts and taking action. Therefore, I plan on buying her short sale home study course and studying that for a month. Once I'm done with that I will get out into the field and get some deals baby!
Ok, here are my goals in real estate for 2012...
1. I completed 5 short sale deals
2. I made over $50k
3. I met Monica Breckenridge

that's a good question Charles, and at this point I don't have a good answer. Right now the plan is to consume as much knowledge as possible in the next 30-60 days on short sales through books, programs and BP. What I'm also going to do though is travel to an experienced BPer in short sales and work for them for free for two weeks and hopefully shadow them on a couple deals (my work schedule is 30 days on and then 14 off in the oil industry so I'm able to travel). Once I shadow someone for two weeks and study up I think I'll have the knowledge and confidence to start going after deals. I have a feeling that by the end of the year I will wholesale, hold, and flip a property. What is your area of expertise?

I'm always happy to hear about someone getting started. Can you tell us a little more about how you want to get from 0 to 10K per month? Are you wholesaling theses deals or holding on to them?
