Plans, plans, and more plans! Kitchen remodel.

13 July

We went in to Cabinet Designs of Central Florida and chose a cherry wood with reddish finish, which will match the cherry wainscoting in the entry hall. We are going with a two-tone kitchen, largely because the outside light is rather dim, and we want light to bounce around inside the kitchen and lighten it up.

This is an expensive house with a Key West casual personality, so the two tone will look mix-and-match-y. So we will have natural cherry wood on the lower cabinets, and we chose a white finish with the slightest red tinge for the uppers. We will have glass panels in the two upper doors next to the sink. The uppers are not quite as high as those in our last renovation, so I won't be able to have the small glass fronted uppers that are in our original plan.

New kitchen cabinets are quoted at $27000, without appliances or counter top.  As our handyman removed the wall and demolished the ceiling, the measurements have changed.  So this is the third plan.  I also discovered that the farmhouse sinks change size when they are fired, so their dimensions are not exactly the same.  Of course!  So we will have yet another re-measure, and possibly a fourth revision to the plans.  It is just part of the process, so we continue to be flexible and positive.  :D
