Had to Go Back to the Drawing Board: Plans

After much delay...something about a huge hurricane in the middle of our project...we finally received the plans from the draftsman.

Here's the skinny:  We needed to get plans to give us the specifications for the several openings that will need an adjustment in the header.  As an example, several of the French doors are currently 4 feet wide and the replacement door will be expanded to six feet in width.  We will need a new header installed, to spread the load across a wider stretch.

Also, according to local code, we cannot install doors that open onto nothing, so we need to have a deck or stairs built outside of the new French doors.  I asked the draftsman to include the specifications for a new deck, while we were at the drawing board (or CAD, as the case may be).

The paperwork is a several page bundle that has the deck drawings as well as the header work that needs to be done. The plans are $385 for several copies.

With plans in hand, I contacted my window installation team, to see about getting the windows and door replacement started.
