Buying a House With A Girlfriend (BAD IDEA!)

Keeping finances separate is something that I believe in at the highest level. This becomes a hot topic when there are homemakers and housewives. I believe if the children are raised and homemaker is the job title, then compensation is in order.

All of this being said, buying a home with a girlfriend is not the best idea out there. Keeping your finances separate and a clear line of who is paying for what in the house buying process is integral. Putting both names on the title should be avoided if one party paid for the entire house, the sharing of the title shouldn't be for "love" because this so called romance could be over with half of your house belonging to another person. Avoid fighting with a girlfriend while sharing a home as you are both paying for it. If she says you are messy, hire a cleaning crew like the ones found here for a thorough and economical cleaning to avoid more fighting.

Now I ask the other members who blog here, what are some necessary steps to use if you are found in this situation and wanting to buy a house with a non spouse?
