Motivation is my why

Whats your motivation to be in the real estate world? Is it the money, is it for the security, is it for short term cash or long term cash? What keeps you going through the ups and downs? If this business is so lucrative how come not everyone is doing it? I've asked myself these questions everyday since I first got interested in real estate.

Hello fellow bloggers my name is Alex Henriksen and I'm 24 years old and Ive never blogged before and am not an expert in english grammar but I will do my best to please you.

I first got interested in real estate right around graduating high school in 2007. I got interested because the economy turned to crap and I took a step back and saw my future getting dimmer and dimmer. You see the way I was brought up was to get good grades go to college and then find a job. So when I took a step back I could tell that the going to college and then getting a job way was risky. There is no guarantee you will get a job but there was a guarantee of bad debt and that worried me.

I started to look at other routes I could take and real estate looked very exciting to me. What first jumped out at me was the prospect of being a land lord. What an easy way of making money I thought. Buy a house or duplex and rent it out to people. Just sit back and let the tenants pay you money. I would be driving around and all I would see are properties that I would imagine only a few people own and are making tons of money. The thought of this happening around me and me not being involved in it drove me crazy. But for several years I thought there is no way for me to get a loan to start my Land-lording except for getting a job and saving money.

So I went to college and got a degree in engineering. BIG MISTAKE  although I don't regret it cause I met my wife and a lot other good things happened. But I still don't make enough to buy a property anytime soon. Plus I don't enjoy what I do because I know in my heart I want to be in real estate. So hear I am. I'm about to turn 24 and I've finally gained some understanding and am currently making some moves to educate myself and gain experience in the rehabbing branch of real estate.

What motivates me is that I feel a passion for real estate. I know it will allow me to retire early or I can just keep working it until the day I die because I love it so much. Another big motivator is Ive found a way for me to get started without having to spend years saving up. But before I can start I have to educate myself. One must be very diligent in the field of real estate investing I feel like. Since I have no experience either and I wont feel confident to go ahead with my own plans without it. For this reason Ive decided to work for free with rehabbers to be on the job sites to gain my experience.

I know I have long way to go to get to my goal. But I hope by blogging about my experiences from the bottom to the top ill be able to help others that are just starting out like me. Cheers and good luck out there!
