Moving to Des Moines

Here I sit one week away from moving to Des Moines, Ia from western Colorado.  Most people as why?  Two things, family and opportunity.  The western slope has been devastated since 2008 when natural gas went away. We've lost 75% of the value in the real estate market and construction starts remain at next to nothing.  Aspen has picked up a little, but contractors are still willing to cut each other throats to get what work is available.  I'm tired of hang on by my finger nails and it's time to seek green pastures.

Through diligent research I have found out that the overall market in Des Moines never lost more than 5% of its value, has gained 17% since January and there seems to be a significant deficiency in inventory  in the market.  5 years ago I was a project manager building 30+  house a year, since 2008 I've built one.  I have a lot of pent up energy and I'm ready to make some money.  Time to go see if the reality is as good as the expectations.
