The Note Business: An Industry On The Rise

NNG Explains How to Grow in your Business and Succeed with Notes.

By: National Note Group

Some make the move from one profession into the note business, which can be quite lucrative. Is it the best choice for everyone? Not necessarily; that is for one to decide on their own. What we are saying however, is that many people have succeeded and continue to succeed in this business, particularly because it’s a growing industry. Like every great success story though, one starts from the bottom and works their way up the ladder. Where you end up is all up to you and how much you push yourself. If you really get involved and absorb as much knowledge as you can you will already be five steps ahead of the rest. However, this is a “learn by doing business” and as such entails hands on experience, with a bit of mutual understanding, communication, and even trial and error. Mistakes are part of the learning process. As much as we hate to make them, we are only human. And remember, it is because of others’ mistakes that came before you, that you can avoid making the same ones. The key elements to succeed in the note business are in the fundamentals; to thrive you must first establish a stable foundation. Preparation is everything!

Find someone who is in the note business and share your mutual interest with them; a mentor can be extremely helpful, especially in the beginning by simply teaching you the basics, helping you find good resources, and working with you on workouts so you can get better at them. Make it your goal to know the business well from understanding collateral through the multiple exit strategies and everything in between such as managing deals, working with attorney and homeowners, and much more. You can start by purchasing notes, either performing or non-performing, and or get hired by other note buyers to work and manage their deals and capitalize off educating yourself with someone else’s deals. Remember though, every deal will be different so you will never really stop learning. Down the road, as you progress, you will find opportunities for partnerships, more deals, office space, and you will even attract more clients.

To wrap up, we’ll leave you with this: Manage your time and workload well, as organization goes a long way and understand that most homeowners don’t want to leave their homes, so use that bit of information to seal the deal.
