Selecting An E-2 Visa Lawyer

Selecting An E 2 Visa Lawyer

Selecting an E-2 visa lawyer is a serious affair. The extent of her skill and diligence would often determine the success of your application. You want to make the decision of selecting your E-2 immigration lawyer as carefully as possible.

Making the decision may not be easy though. This especially because you may not know what to look out for. You can keep the following factors in mind when making your decision.

The Amount of Experience the Lawyer Has

The visa application process is quite complex. A lot of the time, it is the little things that count. Knowing this, only a suitably experienced lawyer can readily identify the relevant things you need to address.

What Is Your E-2 Visa Lawyer’s Professional History?

A lot of the time, the pedigree and environment in which a lawyer has operated may affect your case. It is also necessary for you to ensure that you are not in the hands of a crook.

You may want to consider the following questions when looking at the lawyer’s professional history

  • What law school did he graduate from? Did you verify?
  • Which law firms did the lawyers train with and how highly rated are they? You can benefit a lot from the training and type of clients she has been exposed to
  • Have you checked that the lawyers in the firm have no disciplinary history in the States in which they are licensed to practice law

The Number of Lawyers That Will Work on Your Case

Law firms with a limited number of lawyers may only be able to assign one lawyer to your case. This would mean that your case would slow down or stop if your lawyer is unwell or unavailable.

Are They Qualified to Prepare A Business Plan?

A good business plan is key to the success of your E-2 visa application. It sells your business to the government and certifies the merit of your application. In fact, poor business plans are a common factor in E-2 visa denials.

Do They Have Experience With E-2 Applicants From Your Home Country?

The E-2 visa is very dependent on the procedures of the home country of applicants. Some countries such as Iran, Jordan and Egypt even have limitations in terms of the validity period of their visas. Not all firms know this though.
