Green Homes Are Still on the Rise
Many people would assume that the economy would dampen the "green" commitments of most US consumers. However, the opposite is turning out to be true. According to a national poll that was held recently, most consumers who
have gone green say the economy has not changed their "green" buying habits. Many have actually increased their purchases of "green" products or services. There were very few in the poll that said the economy has caused them to reduce their purchasing of "green" products.
Buying "green homes" still remains on the top of most consumers' lists when they think of big purchases. Many "green homes" are older homes that are being remodeled or restored with recycled materials. This is one great way to lessen the home's carbon footprint on our earth. "Green homes" are built or restored with materials that are environmentally-friendly, non-toxic and are safe for you, your children and the earth.
And "green homes" don't stop with building materials. The appliances that are installed in "green homes" are all in compliance with Energy Star. "Green homes" use solar panels for electricity. And many of the homes are now LEED-Gold certified, which means that the home meets the stringent standards for site development, energy efficiency, water savings, materials selection, innovative design and indoor environmental quality.
It looks like more and more people are "going green" these days, which is great for everyone's future.

Do you have any kind of statistics you can share about the percentage or just the number of homes out there that are now LEED certified?
