It's amazing that many people who live in Arizona or the surrounding areas have never been to Lake Havasu City, Arizona before. There are numerous outdoor activities throughout Arizona, but Lake Havasu City offers the top 8 things to do. Lake Havasu City is located on Hwy 93, around 2 ½ hours from Las Vegas. Many call it the desert playground.
Lake Havasu can be enjoyed year round. But, its best months are from spring through summer. Therefore, I've compiled a list of the biggest attractions in Lake Havasu that even few insiders know about. So, don't worry about the heat and wear lots of sunscreen.
* London Bridge - This is Lake Havasu's landmark. The English Village surrounds the bridge, giving the area a feel of London. You'll find many lovely shops and restaurants where you can buy souvenirs and dine. After-hours in the English Village is also a great time to go for the younger crowds.
* Water sports - You'll find everything you can possibly enjoy on the water, such as boating, jet skiing, water skiing, swimming, fishing, kayaking, canoeing, and parasailing. There are also boat rentals around the London Bridge. Be sure to explore the sand bars to the north of the city and swimming holes around the lake. The State Beach and Rotary State Park are great areas for families to enjoy.
* Fishing - Fishermen have a real blast in Lake Havasu. You can catch all kinds of fish, including catfish, striped bass, blue gill and more. The area is famous for its countless coves and inlets where the biggest fish love to play. And, best of all, you don't have to have a boat to access many of these areas.
* Copper Canyon - Many of Lake Havasu City's residents have long known about this hot spot. The area was also made famous by MTV's "94" spring break visit. Now, Copper Canyon is a must-do if you have access to a boat and like dive.
* Boat Tours - If relaxing is more your pace, then you can go out for a few hours on a boat tour to take in all the sites. The boat's narrators give you a complete experience that is second to none. You can also dine while you enjoy the wildlife.
* Off Road - Lake Havasu is great for off-roading since the desert to the north, south and west of the city is wide open for complete enjoyment. You'll find several ATV rentals to choose from.
* Cliffs - Cliff jumpers absolutely love this area. Just north of Lake Havasu City, in the desert hills, you'll find cliffs ranging from 15 - 150 feet high. The best ways to access the cliffs is by ATV or boat. The water around the cliffs is deep, but you will have to use caution when jumping off one of the big ones.
