Holiday Fun in Reno

If you are looking for some holiday fun in Reno, here's a list of just a few of the great things happening throughout the month of December 2010:

The Nutcracker - December 10 at 8pm, December 11 at 2pm and 8pm and December 12 at 2pm, Pioneer Center for Performing Arts (100 S Virginia St), downtown Reno.  Tickets range from $26 to $51 for adults.  Discounted tickets are available for kids and seniors.  For more info and to purchase tickets, call 775-762-5165 or 775-686-6600.

Gingerbread House Contest - December 11, 9:30am and 11:30am, May Museum, Rancho San Rafael Regional Park.  Entry forms to participate in the contest are due by December 8th.  View all entries on December 11 from 1pm to 4pm.  Cost is $5 to enter contest.  Entry to view the contest and enjoy other activities is absolutely free.  Call 775-823-6500 for more info.

Santa Train - December 11 & 12, 9am to 4pm, Nevada State Railroad Museum (2180 S Carson St), Carson City.  For just $3 per person, take a ride along the Virginia and Truckee Railroad.  You can purchase hot dogs, coffee, chili dogs and hot chocolate.  For more info, please call 775-687-6953.

Winter Break Art Camp - December 27-31, 9am to 1pm, Nevada Museum of Art (160 W Liberty St), Reno.  There's no better way for kids to spend the winter break than at the Winter Break Art Camp at the Nevada Museum of Art.  Kids can bring their own lunch.  For kids ages 8-12.  Days and times are listed below:

  • Monday through Friday - $180 per child ($160 for Museum members)
  • Monday through Wednesday - $108 per child ($96 for Museum members)
