Reno Native Wins Olympic Bronze
Reno native Shannon Bahrke won the Olympic bronze medal in Women's Moguls Skiing this past Saturday, February 13, 2010. Her shocking pink hair is just the first indication that Bahrke is not your average everyday citizen. After completing first a 360 and then a back-flip, Bahrke's speed and air acrobatics gave her a total score of 25.43, landing her in third place behind Canadian favorite Jenn Heil (who took the silver) and fellow American athlete Hannah Kearney (who won America's first gold medal of this Olympics). Bahrke's 2010 Olympic bronze medal will join her silver medal she won at the 2002 Olympics, two world championship medals and the World Cup title in her trophy case. Bahrke has said she will be retiring from the world of competitive skiing after the World Cup season ends. This is Bahrke's third Olympics and she's as happy to be winning the bronze as she was winning the silver in her first Olympics.
Congratulations to Reno Native Shannon Bahrke for winning the Olympic bronze. You make us proud!
