The iPhone as a Marketing Tool? What Can't it Do?!

Google recently announced that it has added what it calls a "business layer" to their Google Earth program that will allow users to find businesses easily on the Google Earth app by clicking on icons that will pop up as Google Earth zooms in on the target.  This is a great tool for real estate agents wishing to get more exposure to their businesses.  You need to take into consideration that the typical cell phone owner has his/her cell phone on them for approximately 18 hours a day.  That's a powerful marketing tool right in the palm of your hand!  Since Apple has the lion's share of the smart phone industry (with 33% of the smart phones in the world being Apple's iPhones which drive almost 50% of the smart phone traffic), this has endless possibilities of getting your name on people's lips or, at the very least, in their hands.  You can add your business to Google Earth by listing it with Google Maps.  It's simple, it's easy and, best of all, it's FREE!  The Mobile Marketing Association also has set up an area on their website where consumers can report any good, bad or offensive ads they may receive on their mobile device and the MMA will investigate the claims.  And, as Pamela Cendejas wrote a couple of weeks ago in Is Your Blog Mobile?, you may want to seriously consider converting your blog to a more friendly mobile format for all those people reading on the go.  There are over 4 billion mobile users around the world now and experts are projecting that number to increase to over 5 billion in the next 2 years.  That's alot of eyeballs to get your business out in front of!
