Celebrate the Holidays in Ventura County

Now that Thanksgiving is done, it's time to celebrate the holidays in Ventura County.  We've provided a list of some of the fun events going on throughout Ventura County through the first week of December:

December 3, 2010
Downtown Holiday Parade in Santa Barbara
- 6:30pm.  Starts at State and Sola Streets and ends at Cota Street.  The parade ends with Santa's appearance on his sleigh and the lighting of the Christmas tree at State & Victoria.

December 4, 2010
Oxnard Tamale Festival - 9am to 5:30pm, Downtown Oxnard's Plaza Park (500 N 5th St).  Not only enjoy tamales, but learn how to make them, participate in a tamale eating contest, enjoy live music and visit with Santa himself.

Oxnard Christmas Parade - 10am, Downtown Oxnard.  Parade route: starts on 9th Street, continues north on A Street, turns left on 5th Street and travels around Park Plaza, continues through to C Street and ends at 3rd.

December 5, 2010
Las Posadas Celebration
- 7pm to 9pm, Cal Lutheran Student Union Building, Thousand Oaks.  Student reenactment of Joseph and Mary's journey on donkey by traveling through the campus.  FREE event.

Community Menorah Lighting - 6:30pm, The Lakes, Thousand Oaks.  Presented by The New Shul of the Conejo.  Enjoy refreshments, too.

Chanukah Festival at the Harbor - 2:30pm to 4:30pm, Ventura Harbor.  Live music, hot latkes and a giant menorah lighting.  Free admission.

December 7, 2010
Skate with Santa

These are just a few of the many celebrations for the holidays in Ventura County.  To see what else is going on, visit the Conejo Valley website.  However you celebrate the holidays in Ventura County, there is something for you.  Happy Holidays, everybody!
