Green Business Expo in Ventura

Nature is a large part of the Southern California lifestyle.  Many Ventura residents embrace going "green" to help maintain the natural beauty of the area.  Southern California's Employment Development Department has a Green Business Expo planned in Ventura for 10am to 5pm on April 23, 2011 at the Working Artists of Ventura building located at 175 Ventura Ave.

The Working Artists of Ventura is a place where local artist can come together and work their art, share ideas and live affordably.  Artists-in-residence include dancers, actors, painters, sculptors, musicians and filmmakers.  The theater offers performances as well as workshops for the public.  They also believe strongly in embracing and taking care of the environment.  This is evident in the building itself, since it is LEED-certified.  To be LEED-certified, the design, construction and daily operations of a building must adhere to strict environmentally-friendly standards.

The Green Business Expo in Ventura will discuss solar energy, clean water, eco-printing (part of which is using vegetable-based ink on recycled paper) and green products for home use, real estate and interior design.  The City of Ventura will show how to use rain barrels to conserve water and how to compost.
