Recycling Event in Ventura

The Westside Community Development Corporation, Volunteer Ventura! Program and Westside Community Council are sponsoring a recycling event in Ventura this Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 9am to noon.  If you have any e-waste or recyclable household materials that you need to get rid of, come to the corner of Kellogg Street and North Ventura Ave in Ventura's Westside community.  Items that will be collected at the event include:

  • Appliances
  • Cell Phones
  • Computers
  • Furniture
  • Metal
  • Wood

This event is not meant for household hazardous waste, however.  Items NOT accepted include:

  • Batteries
  • Motor Oil
  • Paint

The local electronic waste management and IT asset recovery company G & C Technologies will be on hand to collect any e-waste (computers, cell phones, radios, etc).  A percentage of the proceeds from the e-waste collection will be donated to the Youth and Family Lions Club of Ventura.

If you have household hazardous waste you need to dispose of in the Ventura area, you can bring it to the following alternate sites:

  • Gold Coast Recycling (5275 Colt St, Ventura) - Must be a Ventura resident, so bring proof of residency.  They accept latex paint (up to 10 gallons), motor oil (max four 5-gallon containers), oil filters, antifreeze (up to 10 gallons), auto batteries (limit 2), household batteries, fluorescent lights and electronic waste.
  • Powerstride Battery (996 E Thompson Blvd) - Auto battery recycling only.  Call 805-652-0500 for hours.
  • Fuller Paint & Glass (1870 E Thompson Blvd) - Latex paint only.  Must be a Ventura resident (bring proof of residency with you).  Call 805-648-3003 for hours of operation.
  • Frontier Paint (1151 Callens Rd) - Latex paint only.  Must be a Ventura resident (bring proof of residency with you).  Call 805-650-7284 for hours of operation.

The following companies accept used motor oil as well:

  • Auto Lube Care (1875 E Thompson Blvd)
  • Auto Zone (2610 E Main St)
  • Auto Zone (9459 Telephone Rd)
  • Dave's Marine Fuel Service (1404 Anchors Way Dr)
  • Firestone Tire & Service (200 S California St)
  • Gold Coast Recycling (5275 Colt St)
  • Jiffy Lube (1098 E Thompson Blvd)
  • O'Reilly Auto Parts/Kragen (4225 E Main St)
  • O'Reilly Auto Parts/Kragen (147 W Main St)
  • Pep Boys (4001 E Main St)
  • Pep Boys (2705 E Thompson Blvd)
  • Texaco Xpress Lube (4624 Telephone Rd)

If you have household materials and/or e-waste that you need to recycle, bring them to the recycling event in Ventura's Westside neighborhood this Saturday, June 4, 2011 from 9am to noon.  Let's do what we can to keep Ventura beautiful for future generations.
