Fundraiser for Oxnard Animal Shelters
On Saturday, February 20, 2010, there will be a fundraiser for Oxnard animal shelters through Operation Blankets of Love. This non-profit organization gathers recycled as well as new pet-related products, such as blankets, toys, etc., and gives them to local animal shelters to help comfort stray, sick and abused animals. Sponsored by the Oxnard Police and Fire Department's Communications Center, the event will be held from 10am-2pm at 360 West Second Street (behind the Oxnard Fire Administration Building, across the street from the Oxnard Police Department. There will be a fun doggie costume contest (including prizes), pet adoptions, K9 demonstrations, a bake sale (proceeds go to Operation Blankets of Love) and free rabies vaccination vouchers. The doggie costume contest requires a $10 entry fee (all proceeds go to Operation Blankets of Love). You must register for the contest between 10am and 11:30am.
If you can't make it to the event but have items you would like to donate to Operation Blankets of love, you can visit one of their drop-off locations throughout Ventura County, including Simi Valley's Theresa's Country Feed & Pet Store and Big Al's Pet Food Warehouse, Westlake Village's PETCO, Ventura's Linda's Paws & Claws or Moorpark's Pet Life stores.
