Halloween Happenings in Ventura

Looking for something to do this Halloween season besides the typical door-to-door trick-or-treating?  Here is a list of some of the Halloween happenings in Ventura through October 31st:

Today, October 22, 2010:
Halloween Party
- Camarillo YMCA (3111 Village at the Park Dr, Camarillo), 6:30pm to 8:30pm.  Admission is FREE.  Come enjoy carnival games where you can win prizes, face painting, bounce houses, temporary tattoos, a cupcake walk and a costume contest for both kids AND adults.  Pizza, candy apples and water are available to purchase.  Proceeds from the sale of these items will benefit teen programs sponsored by Camarillo YMCA.

Boo at the Zoo - Santa Barbara Zoo (500 Ninos Dr, Santa Barbara), 5:30pm to 8:30pm.  Admission is $12 for adults and $10 for kids ages 2-12.  Get $1 off per ticket if you're an SB Zoo member.  Go trick-or-treating throughout the park, play Halloween-themed games, enjoy dancing and games, take a night time train ride on the Boo Choo-Choo and much, much more!  Tickets for the train ride are on a first come, first served basis and cost $4 for adults and $3.50 for kids ages 2-12.  No one over the age of 12 will be allowed in if they are wearing masks or have their faces painted for the safety of others.

Saturday, October 23, 2010:
Pumpkin Patch Fundraiser
- Oak Park Community Garden (corner of Sunnycrest and Kanan Road, Simi Valley), 9:00am to 5:00pm.  Admission is FREE.  Buy a pumpkin, take a tour of the community garden and take pictures.  All money raised will benefit the Community Garden directly for use to purchase tools, supplies and equipment.

Family Fun Day - Leonis Adobe Museum (23537 Calabasas Road, Calabasas), 1:00pm to 4:00pm.  Admission is $4, kids in costume get in for free.  There will be pumpkin carving, face painting, games and more.  Each child that attends will get their own pumpkin.

8th Annual Westlake Village City Celebration - Westlake City Hall and Library (31200 Oak Crest Drive, Westlake Village), 2:00pm to 9:00pm.  In addition to a 5K/1 mile twilight run (5:30pm), there will be a magic show, fair, haunted house and performances by local talent.

Sunday, October 24, 2010:

Trunk or Treat - Crossroads Community Church (161 Plaza La Vista, Camarillo), 3:30pm to 6:30pm.  Admission is free.  In addition to treats, kids can enjoy carnival games, a costume contest and face painting amongst other things.  Food will be available for purchase at the event.

Thursday, October 28, 2010:
Dia De Los Muertos
- California Lutheran University (60 W Olsen Rd, Thousand Oaks), 10:00am.  Learn about this traditional Latin celebration throughout the day for free.

Friday, October 29, 2010:
Trick or Treat Halloween Celebration
- Moorpark Family Resource Center (61 E High St, Moorpark), 3:00pm to 5:00pm.  Get sugarless candy and win some prizes.

Halloween Hangar Party - Commemorative Air Force Southern California Wing (455 Aviation Dr, Camarillo), 8:00pm to 2:00am.  Enjoy live music, costume contest, tacos and beer.  $10 cover charge.  ust be at least 18 years old to attend.

Kids Halloween Hangar Party - Commemorative Air Force Southern California Wing (455 Aviation Dr, Camarillo), 4:00pm to 7:00pm.  For kids ages 12 and under.

Saturday, October 30, 2010:
Dead Man's Skate Party
- Pleasant Valley Skate Park (1030 Temple Avenue, Camarillo), 7:00pm to 10:00pm.  Skateboard only event.  Enjoy late night skateboarding, costume contest, bands and giveaways.  Helmets must be worn.

Day of the Dead Free Puppet Show - Olivas Adobe (4200 Olivas Park Drive, Ventura), 12:00pm and 2:00pm.

Sunday, October 31, 2010:
Halloween Community Carnival
- Camarillo Community Center Park (1605 E Burnley St, Camarillo), 6:00pm to 9:00pm.  There will be a Halloween-themed village, carnival games, inflatables and a costume contest that is open to all ages.  Food and other vendors will be available at the event.

Halloween Festival - First Presbyterian Church (850 Ivywood Dr, Oxnard), 5:00pm to 8:00pm.  Admission is FREE.  Enjoy a safe alternative to door-to-door trick-or-treating.  Besides the candy, kids can enjoy games, food and inflatable fun.
