Home Improvements Tailored for House Flippers

So you’ve bought a house and are looking to make a few improvements to raise the resale value. If you’re anything like me, you might start obsessing about the number of things to do. Or begin to doubt your ability to carry out all those projects that need to be done. Luckily, for those of us who aren’t professional homebuilders or cabinet-makers, there are a few home remodeling projects that are simple to master and can do wonders to increase a home’s value.

Re-do Your Doors

Doors are a great place to start and they are relatively easy to repaint or replace. A bright front door adds an eye-catching pop of color to your home’s curb appeal and bold door colors have been the trend for a few years now, so don’t be shy about using green, red or yellow for your main entrance. Inside the home, consider replacing existing doors with glass-paneled doors that increase the amount of light in the space. You don’t have to install fancy doors to make an impression; sometimes adding doors that don’t distract the eye of a potential buyer can be perfectly effective.

Paint

Wallpaper is making a comeback but it can be tough to design a room around some of the more daring wallpaper designs. If you bought a home with old wallpaper in it, replacing it with paint is an easy way to give your home a fresh look without leaving a paper pattern to design around. If your home already has paint, or you’re deciding upon a new color palette, to help you play with your options.

Landscape

A tidy yard can go a long way toward convincing potential buyers that they’re investing in a well-cared-for property. Make sure your lawn is well-kept and, if you don’t have one, consider putting one in (if you live in an appropriate climate). Installing landscape borders and edging are another great way to give a neat, orderly impression and it’s usually well worth the small investment.

Focus on the Kitchen

If the house you bought had your dream price but not your dream countertops, don’t worry. New kitchen countertops are not as expensive as they were twenty years ago and they will change the entire look of your kitchen. Next, update the kitchen faucet, cabinet knobs and light fixtures. These inexpensive fixes are and can often transform the feel of the entire kitchen from “dated” to “modern.”
