"F" for Action
I have been "involved" in real estate for the last 9 years. I work for a commercial real estate company that owns, manages and develops commercial office buildings. In my current job I work as a controller for a portfolio of properties and I am mainly involved in the financial reporting and accounting aspects of the business.
In my previous job I was more heavily involved in the operations, leasing, construction, financing which really created my passion for real estate.
Knowing that my long term goal is to become a buy and hold real estate investor I have been hoping to find some properties to acquire as investments. Unfortunately this is where I give myself an F for effort.
I have been a member of Bigger Pockets since July 27, 2008. I am not really sure why I signed up for the site back them. I believe I stumbled across the site while reading information on real estate investment on another financial forum that I was an active member on. Sadly as I write this, I only have 2 posts in the Bigger Pockets forum. Both almost 1 year ago.
I stated listening to the Podcast from show # 1 and have enjoyed listening and learning. When I got to show # 52 and I realized that I have been listening to this show for 1 YEAR and haven't done anything yet I realized I needed to make something happen if I hoped to ever get started. Now at show number 78 I still haven't made any concrete moves to get my investing career moving forward.
I decided to start writing this blog as a way of motivating myself to set goals (IN WRITING) as reporting on my performance and accomplishments on a periodic basis.
So far I have decided on my initial target market as well as setup a prepaid cell phone to use in my marketing efforts. I have a call set up with Michael Q for tomorrow and hope to get started on a yellow letter marketing campaign.
Here are my goals for the next 7 days:
1) Speak with Michael Q to decide on the appropriate marketing campaign
2) Send out initial round of marketing materials (which at this point I am assuming will be yellow letters)
3) Write blog post of past real estate investment deal and missed deals
I plan on making my next blog post next week which will set my goals for the following week as well as reporting on my progress.
